As part of the proposals of the theater for new generations, festival dedicated to the public theater in Rome for young viewers and their families, debuted at the Teatro Argentina 4 al 16 December PANIC, a theater project for young people from 14 years, starting from the theme of fear and the different reactions to it.

Written by Michele Cosentini based on authentic and directed by Thomas Year, the show is a fresco on small and large fears of adolescents, predominant emotions of this century which tend to give space to other two primary emotions such as anger and sadness, threatening to supplant happiness. For these reasons the show has gone from boys, by listening to their voices and their perceptions. Following this line the show is built on two floors: the narrative and the testimony, where lives, the stories and the characters' emotions are intertwined between real and virtual.

Sophocles, so named by parents who were acting weird "Oedipus Rex" in the period of conception, is a final year student of a scientific high school to which you are writing to please his, given that his ambition is to be a writer and gets good grades with exercises of autobiography in which he describes sarcastically childhood with parents. It has a fairly genuine rapport with them, but the anxiety of not meeting their expectations, moreover amplified by him. Sophocles is intelligent and ironic, but the craze of cataloging and count all (including the most intimate things) and it has a collection of colorful shirts, which changes depending on the mood, according to a rigid code; It must check three times that the gas is closed, It is hyper-hygienist, in short, it is quite compulsive and that makes him the object of ridicule among the companions who come to know of his delusions. His friend David, instead, has fear of not being sufficiently included in the group and can not be more popular if often, to be, It becomes involved in nonsense; moreover it is constantly plagued by Ivan, a rapper who bully tend to drink a little 'too. Perhaps not coincidentally, David likes Ines, the sister of Sophocles, mythological character of which only we hear the voice and see only posts and fragments in video, popular in the real world and on the web, and that 4999 Friends on Facebook. But to really like Ines Ivan ... Sophocles, instead, It is attracted to Sarah, a girl with intellectual tastes but apparently cynical and at times almost unpleasant, He can never fall in love seriously. But their story, for different reasons arising from their respective fears, struggling to take off, as well as breaks down, for mutual misunderstandings, the friendship between David and Sophocles. It will be a campsite at the end of school year, Sophocles face despite his foibles and his hygienists hyper-compulsive disorder that is now a barrier between him and the other, with the worst beating committed by Ivan against David and the taking of Sarah awareness and Ines, to mark the turning point of the protagonists: the university will separate them, loves not bloom, friendships may no longer be that of the first, but each of them will have helped at least one other of them, perhaps inadvertently, to overcome his fear. On the screen, occasionally we see fragments of the thoughts of young people, their fears, of their most unattainable visions or more frightening: classmates that are inaccessible to David and Sophocles source of judgment, Ines fragments of the unattainable, SMS deletes, phrases that censor, by Sophocles parents when he imagines them in their worst form.

The story line finds its counterpoint in the realism of the line of testimonies, taken from real stories, who engages in it, and that in five times presents us with five cases of reaction to fear, already mentioned in the narrative. These five moments to give the title of the show chapters, whose title is an acronym PANIC: P – PARANOID PARK: Dangerous games; A - ANA: Anorexia; N – NIKITA: Alcoholism; I - INVISIBLE: Isolation; C - COSO!: Bullying.

The two lines, that of narration and that of testimonies, counterpoint to rejoin each other at the end. "Adolescence is one of the most critical moments of our lives: It is a time of transition, in which the human being matures and builds his own adult identity. For teenagers it is increasingly difficult, bombarded as they are by a thousand external stimuli, able to focus on the healthy relationship models, to help them deal with ourselves, with their emotions and with each other. For this reason there is an increasing need that the adult world, first, learn to recognize and to question the behavioral and educational schemes we bestow unknowingly - says director Thomas Year - Panic has little claim to tell what comes to mind of a teenager of today: his fears, anger, the sadness, the pressures to which it is subjected. And if adults will have the courage to listen, perhaps, they will realize that those fears, that anger, that sadness are the same, once, Also they tried their '.
